Summer Reading Program

A Universe of Stories - Summer Reading Program

June 1 through August 31, 2019

Grab a book. Read for fun. Challenge yourself. Enjoy special programs and events with the Sunnyvale Public Library's Summer Reading Program. You can even win a prize for reading. (For Children and Adults, the limit will be one prize per person while supplies last. Teens may win multiple prizes based on how many books they read and programs they attend.)

  1. Pick up a Reading Log at the Library or download below.
  2. Read or attend programs for prizes.
    • Children and Adults - Complete the Reading Log and bring it back to the Library in August to claim your prize. (Children's Prize is a free book. Adult Prize is a $5 Friends of the Library Gift Certificate.)
    • Teens - Read and attend Library Programs all summer to receive Prize Scratchers. (Teen Prizes include a free book, PopSocket, or extra chance to win a Grand Prize.)

Open to all ages.

Chance to Win a Grand Prize

All participants who complete the program may also enter for a chance to win a larger age-appropriate prize at the end of the summer. Prizes include the following or similar:


  • Tummy time water mat (for babies)
  • Tegu magnetic blocks
  • Kinetic sand
  • Pete the Cat book and stuffed character set
  • Terrarium kit
  • Slime kit
  • and more


  • Multiple chances to win $50 Amazon.com gift cards


  • Grand Prize: Picnic Under the Stars Kit (includes a telescope, picnic basket kit, $50 Trader Joe's gift card)
  • $25 gift card to Leigh's Favorite Books, Sports Basement, Starbird Chicken, Starbucks or Trader Joe's

The annual Summer Reading Program is designed to promote a love of reading and encourage children, teens and adults to read during summer break. The Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library provide funding for the program.
